Dear Reader,
I was recently going through some old photos and stumbled upon a trip I took to California around this time of year back in 2019. In some ways the trip didn’t seem like 5 years ago, but in a way it also feels so long ago. I couldn’t help but think that the me in these images had no clue that just one year later after this trip our whole world would be significantly impacted one way or another by a pandemic. Obviously nobody had a clue!
It just really made me think how looking back on images from our past can often channel a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Not only are they a reminder of the memories centered around the actual moment the image was taken, but can also produce thoughts of reflection based on all the life that has happened since and who we are now because of experiences since that time in our lives. It’s a bit heavy when I think about it like that.
Anyway, it was my first and only visit to California and I had such a lovely time there with a few girlfriends. Seeing all the photos reminded me how beautiful it was there so I thought I would share a little photo diary from my archives with you.
Please enjoy!
P.S. I remember playing this song a lot around that trip. Mainly because:
The title.
Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time.
The sound just really supported the chilled adventurous vibe I had at the moment.
Feel free to listen as you scroll through the images.
California 2019
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Love,
So true about thoughts, even a song, a smell etc can bring you to a remembrance. Sometimes happy, soothing and sometimes sad. Enjoyed seeing your pics again. I always loved going out there to see family, enjoy the food, mountains etc. Unfortunately as my cousins tell me this California is not the California they grew up in and loved. But happy memories none the less.
