Mood Board Monday: Coral, Red, and Brown Tones
A warm and romantic color pallet that suits my fancy. As well as a subtle "and doable" approach to incorporating the red trend into my scene.
A collection of images and pieces reflecting a romantic and warm color pallet that I’m finding quite lovely. I think it is safe to say that red is having a moment. But I’m noticing brown is making a subtle guest appearance lately. From brown leather bags, to brown sweaters and pants, to rich brown shades of nail polish gracing our manicures. I haven’t really heard any discussion on if brown is the new black or anything like that this season. But brown seems to be slipping into the scene (even if it is in my head or from my own doing, lol). I have always been drawn to brown and warm tones so I welcome its presence any day with gladness.
Our bold friend red is showing no signs of going anywhere just yet, and while I’m fine with that I struggle working with such bold statement colors in my personal style. Not that I feel pressure to participate, but in can be fun to try new things outside our comfort zones from time to time.
Now I do like the idea of pairing red with browns to lend a more approachable color pallet for my taste. And then adding a touch of coral really does balance the pallet with just the right amount of softness while also gently merging us into the upcoming spring season.
Mood Board Highlights:
image 1: Jamie Beck is no stranger to reflecting warm and romantic tones in her beautiful photography and art. I imagine her latest book “The Flowers of Provence” will not disappoint with beautiful color combinations including this flower arrangement chosen for the cover. Not to mention an automatic beautiful addition to any coffee table readily available for inspiration. She also has a beautiful collection of journals that are beyond gorgeous! I want one!
image 2: I love glassware so much! I can’t get enough of it. Currently I’m drawn to coup glasses. I remember when the hit show Scandal was hot on the screens and it was all about the big bowl wine glasses similar to the style Olivia Pope sipped her wine from. Do you remember that? Well it seems the coup glass is having a moment to shine and with all the creative designs I’m seeing it has been hard not to want them all. This soft pink/coral coup glass from Anthropologie is so fun with its elongated gold stem. It also comes in a lovely clear version.
image 3: One can never have too many candlesticks if you ask me. Which means candlestick holders are in order. This Aurora Candlestick Holder Set would be a lovely romantic addition to any home.
image 4: I have a lumbar shaped version of this coral velvet pillow displayed on my couch and it is the perfect shade of coral. Not to mention unbelievably soft. You will find yourself petting it from time to time no doubt.
image 5: I love this fun and quirky little bar setup I saw on the Instagram of interior genius Matilda Goad. The cute silver cherry decor really is the cherry on top in this image.
image 6: A lovely outfit pairing red and brown together. So perfect! The waistband on this Luiz Pant from Sezane is such a flattering design. This similar brown cardigan would be a staple piece worn on repeat. And the detailing in this brown dress shirt is so beautiful. This outfit has definitely inspired me to give this color duo a try in my own styling.
How do you feel about all this red in the limelight? Do you take the bold approach or lean more towards a subtle display with the color red? Please do tell.
Of course at the end of the day it’s just a color. ;) Thank you so much for reading. Until next time. xo
